This portrait of the animal was designed in 1955 by the renowned Norwegian designer Arne Tjomsland.
Arne Tjomsland's fascination with polar bears dates back to childhood. Reading books on the Arctic and visiting the zoological museum in Oslo where his father was employed, also sparked young Arne Tjomsland's imagination. It was this fascination that later gained a more concrete shape in the form of the Polar Bear, which Arne Tjomsland designed as an adult.
